The JFCS Refugee Program provides comprehensive case management, supportive and navigational services to refugees, SIVs, immigrants, asylees, Humanitarian Parolees, and other ORR-eligible populations who have been in the United States fewer than five years. We serve clients who have just arrived in the country, as well as secondary migrants (i.e. refugees who have relocated to southern California), and also assist with family reunification cases.
Our case managers can provide client care and services to clients who speak Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, and Spanish. Client support and services include:
- enrolling clients in medical services
- teaching and empowering clients how to navigate the medical system
- help clients select medical insurance programs
- help clients enroll in and navigate Social Services (CalWorks, CalFresh, SSI, WiC, CAPI, SDI)
- provide emergency financial assistance
- setting up bank accounts
- job search support
- in-depth and ongoing cultural orientation
- workshops, trainings, and networking
- assist enrolling clients in ESL classes and vocational support
- enrolling children in schools
- food/groceries assistance
- transportation assistance
- social gatherings and celebrations

A small group of 5-8 dedicated, compassionate
volunteers working alongside JFCS Case Management
professionals to provide ongoing or as needed support to a
refugee family.
