Home > Schneidman Educational Scholarship Fund for Staff

The Daisy and Vic Schneidman Educational Scholarship Fund was established to support members of the JFCS of Long Beach & West Orange County community in accomplishing their goals of higher education. Schneidman students are leaders in their community and have a desire to help others and give back to those in need. These scholars have demonstrated a passion for learning and are committed to pursuing their educational and career goals.

The application for the 2024-2054 award cycle is now available. The deadline to apply is May 15, 2024.

If you meet the eligibility qualifications below, you can  click here to complete the application. You can also view the full application here.

Eligibility

Scholarship funds are available to JFCS staff who are currently on payroll along with their children/grandchildren. Students must be pursuing higher education and enrolled in a certificate, degree, or vocational/trade program during the 2024-2025 school year. Students may attend full or part-time. Financial need is considered during the review and selection process.  JFCS volunteers including board members and their children/grandchildren are not eligible for this program. If you are a past award recipient and are still pursuing a degree, you remain eligible to apply.

Application & Award Process

Those who meet the eligibility requirements are asked to submit the completed application by May 15, 2024. The scholarship selection panel will review applications and select 1-2 students to be awarded a scholarship.

Proof of enrollment and signed scholarship acknowledgement form will be required to receive the award.  Scholarship recipients will be announced in July with awards being mailed out in August.

Selection Panel

The scholarship selection panel is comprised of members of the Schneidman family and JFCS  volunteers. Selection of scholarship recipients and award amounts is at the sole discretion of this panel.
